OPEN EVENING MAY 21 2004

This committee decided that this evening was to be an Open Evening. The idea being that as many former society members, who could be contacted, would be invited to attend.
A total of 44 invitations were sent out of which 22 former members accepted and attended.
Along with 24 current members the evening proved to be a great success .
The society chairman ,Robin Lidster , opened the proceeding and after welcoming all present he spoke about the history of the S.R.S. He followed this with a short slide presentation with reference to 50 years of the S R S and some of the visits enjoyed by the members.

The vice chairman , Colin Foster, gave Robin an excellent vote of thanks which certainly surprised him . The meeting was then opened out and all present could enjoy the refreshments , provided by Mary and Iris, and catch up with many friends from the past. Also there were the society photo albums on display, many of the historical society records, a continuous slide show featuring member’s slides showing Scarborough and the surrounding area.

This was a unique occasion which was thoroughly enjoyed by all and a fitting tribute to the Golden Jubilee of the society. A “Members present” list was compiled and is enclosed with these notes so future generations will be able to see who attended this historical meeting?
